While the apparition of Alice that appears throughout the film may hint at a possible haunting, Run Rabbit Run seems to lean more toward the idea of Alice being just another product of Sarah's mental decline. As Sarah pounds on the window, trying to get them to stop, the two of them continue to walk toward the cliff's edge, and that's where the movie ends. When the other girl turns around, Sarah recognizes that Mia has joined hands with the ghostly figure of Alice. When Sarah wakes up to find Mia gone yet again, she looks out the bedroom window, only to see Mia and another little girl holding hands and walking away from the house. The white rabbit appears later in the bedroom, and Mia follows the animal while Sarah sleeps. She doesn't go fully through with it, though, instead admitting the truth about Alice's fate to her own daughter in bed that night. While Sarah is in her daze, Mia disappears once again (an occurrence that happens a few times throughout the movie), and Sarah, seeing a ghostly vision of Alice drowning, finally wants to tell the truth about Alice's disappearance to her mother. Sarah's grasp on reality declines rapidly, and after she awakes from the nightmare of remembering her sister's death, she draws all over the floor with black crayons, revealing that she has actually been the one making all the creepy drawings, not Mia.
